At Olmec Reflections, West Chester‘s local carpet cleaning experts, we have seen many homes, both prepared and not for a carpet cleaning. You might think all you need to do is clear the traffic areas. While that task is helpful, there are some more helpful, yet simple, things to prepare your home for carpet cleaning and make the job go as smoothly as possible. We hope they help!

“What do I need to move?”

At Olmec Reflections, we really do not expect you to move that 1,000-pound China cabinet. Most heavy items can stay. If you are wanting us to get behind or under a piece of furniture, please let us know! We also do not mind sliding that coffee table to one side of the room or moving dining room chairs at no extra charge. The only thing we ask is to clear most debris, like toys and accessories from traffic areas.

Do my pets need to be secured?”

We love pets and don’t want them to get loose! Since our hoses and equipment will require your door to be open, we ask that your pets be secured. Our machines are noisy, so put your pet somewhere they will not be bothered.

“Do carpets need to be vacuumed before cleaning?

We do not require vacuuming, but if your floors are particularly dirty or you have high animal hair shedding, we ask you to vacuum the floors. This will help the technician get the best deep clean they can for your carpets. Here’s a few hacks on how to vacuum more effectively!

“Should I move the porcelain nick-nicks?”

We do not want to knock over that 500-year-old oil lantern. Even though we are not liable, it makes for a bad visit all the way around. We care about your home, so we ask that you find a safe place for fragile items for the time being that are in vulnerable places.

“Do you need parking space?”

Our technician will run the cleaning equipment from a work truck. It will need to be as close to the house as possible for the hoses to have ample reach. Please reserve the best space possible for parking.

“What about my drapery?”

If you have long curtains, we ask that you suspend them for the visit. Make sure you don’t fold or bend them for too long, as it will possibly crease them. Our equipment is powerful and might try to unintentionally suck them up, causing damage.

When will the carpets be dry?”

This is probably our most popular question for how to prepare your home for carpet cleaning. At Olmec Reflections, we understand the importance of not having your carpets sopping wet after a cleaning. They will take forever to dry if not done right. We work hard to get as much water extracted as possible. We also use fans. The longest your carpets should ever be damp after our visit is 8 hours at the most. Here’s more about why this is important!

The bottom line on How to Prepare Your Home for Carpet Cleaning:

We do not ask for much and understand individual circumstances. We want it to be the best carpet cleaning experience possible! What you do can go a long way into making our visit an easy and enjoyable one. We thank you always for choosing Olmec Reflections and hope you will have us back!
